Google Pixel 4a renders leak show a punch-hole display

The Pixel 4 was launched with much fanfare by Google just a few months ago, but its launch brought with it a big surprise. Going against all expectations, the company decided to not bring the device to India.

But with Google giving India a skip with the Pixel 4, the expectation now is that it will focus all its energies into bringing the Pixel 4a to India. The device is expected to be more than just the company’s affordable mid-range pixel, and is expected to be a major upgrade on the 3a and also borrow a lot of elements from the Pixel 4.

While the Pixel 4a is still months away from launch, the first renders of the upcoming Google Pixel 4a have leaked which have given us an insight into what Google has in store for us with the next Pixel device.

The leaked renders come courtesy ofOnLeaksand91Mobilesof which the former has a very good record with getting leaks right. Among other things, the leaked renders show that the Pixel 4a could come with a punch-hole for selfie cameras that will be located at the top left corner of the display. If this indeed ends up being the design that Google follows, then it will make the Google Pixel 4a the first device to come with a punch-hole display from the company.

The display shown in the renders also appears to be flat and shows the presence of no curves. The leak claims that the display could be around 5.7 or 5.8-inches diagonally thereby not being a major upgrade in size over its predecessor. However, while the display size appears to have increased, the bezels definitely look thinner as compared to the 3a launched a year ago.

The size of the bezels also hints that the device may not bring in hardware required for Project Soli’s radar technology. Apart from this, the bezels do appear to house a thin earpiece on the top. At the back, there’s a protruding camera bump housed on a matte finish back. The camera layout appears to be similar to what we have seen on Pixel 4 as well as iPhone 11 series. The back of the device also features a physical fingerprint sensor and a Google logo.

On the right, the renders show a volume rocker and an orange-colored power button. The phone also appears to come with a 3.5mm audio jack, as well as USB Type-C port and speaker grilles.

As far as the internals go, there is very little information available right now. However, from what the reports suggest, the smartphone could come with at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage paired to either the Snapdragon 730 or 765 chipset. Apart from that, we can expect the Pixel 4a to feature a 12.2MP camera on the back.
